Alumni Spotlight: ERC Grants
Alumni Spotlight presents outstanding research achievements and special awards received by members of the Alumni Club and the Medical University of Vienna. In this issue of Alumni Spotlight, the focus was once again on research projects that have been awarded an ERC grant.
The three distinguished researchers from MedUni Vienna – Adam Gosztolai, Conrad Merkle, and Christoph Bock – presented their innovative projects, made possible through research funding from the European Commission. In addition, they gave a detailed insight into what an application to the ERC looks like, what the submission process is like, what you should avoid at all costs and how you have the best chance of being accepted for your research project. Harald Sitte, who joined the ERC Starting Grants review panel this year, shared his experiences and gave valuable tips on how research projects can be optimally submitted in order to receive an ERC grant. Vice-Rector Michaela Fritz hosted the evening and emphasized how important it is for MedUni Vienna to support ambitious young researchers on their way to an ERC grant.
