Dora Brücke-Teleky Award -

for exceptional publications authored by Postdocs

Dora Brücke-Teleky was one of the first females studying Medicine in Vienna and graduated in 1904. She then specialized, received clinical training in gynecology and urology, and was the first female member of the College of Physicians in Vienna. In 1938, she emigrated to the US after the “Anschluss” and continued to practice medicine in Massachusetts until the 1950ies.

The Award
The Alumni Club of the Medical University of Vienna and the College of Physicians in Vienna jointly launch a biannual academic award for Postdocs who published exceptional papers (as first author) in the previous 12 months. The purpose of this award is to recognize merit and achievements of talented Postdocs and to increase visibility of their work. The Dora Brücke-Teleky Award intends to promote the academic career of young scientists, strategically addressing the promotion of young scientists at the Postdoc stage.
The Dora Brücke-Teleky Award is presented twice a year. The three best candidates of each term will be invited to present their work at a dedicated event held at the Van Swieten Saal or (alternating) the Billrothhaus. The award itself consists of a certificate and prize money (1st 1.365,00 euros, 2nd 682,50 euros 3rd 341,25 euros). Awardees and their work will be featured on the respective websites and via social media.

The Procedure
Candidates must apply for the Dora Brücke-Teleky Award and have been performing their research leading to the publication at the Medical University of Vienna. The proposal should consist of
1) a cover letter by the applicant,
2) the paper submitted for the award and
